ALL
SECRETS REVEALED FOLLOWING BIGLEN ANNOUNCEMENT
Miami,
FL – Two weeks ago today, at this year’s
SEMA Show, in Las Vegas, the mystery surrounding the
new BigLen ride came to an end. As all was said
and the arresting drape removed, the facts became evident:
A 3rd Generation Mitsubishi Eclipse, Pro Rear Wheel
Drive, 3.5L Twin Turbocharged V6…
The
new car incorporates a Jerry Bickel design 25.1D chassis,
built by ROOMAN Motorsports, and topped by a sleek,
stretched and pinched 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse body.
Providing the power will be the Mitsubishi 6G74 3.5L
DOHC motor found in the Mitsubishi Montero.
Fellow
competitors from all pro classes, including Jojo Callos,
RJ de Vera, Gary Gardella, Jarrod Silvers, RJ Simrock,
Lisa Kubo, Matt Scranton, Angela Proudfoot, together
with the entire Bullish, Nuformz, AEM, & World Electronics
teams, were on hand to show their support and find out
if they would, indeed, meet Monserrat at the tree next
season. “It is a great feeling to have all
my competitors and colleagues gathered here to show
their support. It means a great deal to me and
I thank you all…” said Monserrat.
He adds, “I also have to thank the entire staff
at Modified Mag for preparing and building up the whole
event. They did an outstanding job, which led
to the amazing turnout we achieved.”
The anxious, standing-room-only, industry crowd was
treated to additional surprises, as Len Monserrat announced
the introduction of MBNA Motorsports, a division of
MBNA America, into the Sport Compact Drag Racing World.
Roman Serra, of BigLen Engineering, had this to say,
“We would like to give special thanks to Phil
Elfstrom and Leonard Entel, of MBNA Motorsports, for
allowing us to lead the way in their sport compact debut.
We look forward to a great 2003 season.”
Furthermore, the newly revealed drag car spawned another
hot topic by showcasing an all-new, spindle mount drag
wheel by German wheel maker BBS Wheels.
American Products Company (APC) and Warranty Gold, both
newcomers to the team, will join Dynamic Turbo, back
as an associate sponsor for their fourth consecutive
season. “We’re proud to be associated
with Len’s program, as he has continuously proven
his professionalism both on and off the track.
He is a great spokesperson and we look forward to the
2003 season,” comments Travis White of APC.
Team BigLen plans to tour events at all major sanctioning
bodies (NDRA, NHRA, & IDRC) and attend all major
industry shows, such as the Super Street Spring Break
Tuner Bash, SEMA International Auto Salon, and NOPI
Supershow. As always, the team will support and
make appearances for the Racers Against Street Racing
(RASR) program.
