FAMILY HISTORY
The auto ‘bug’ was instilled early in Len’s childhood, by his
father, Leonardo Monserrat Sr., who also shares the fixation for
fine automobiles and collectibles, above all, the British-born
Jaguar. During the early ‘80’s, Leonardo Sr becomes an avid collector
and restorer of 60’s-model Jaguar E-types, and naturally, a feverish
fan of the factory-backed, Jaguar IMSA GTP racing campaigns of the
1980’s & 90’s. Through the years, father and son are regulars at The Miami Grand Prix
and Indy-Car Challenges held on the streets of Downtown Miami,
Tamiami Park, and more recently, at Homestead-Miami Speedway. To
this day, Sr’s adoration for the British marque and the “leaping
Cat” is still evident during Sunday afternoon drives.
The family passion has also steadily assembled a print collection.
Originally started by Leonardo Sr, the collected works are comprised
of automotive journals, magazines, technical manuals, and
motorsports publications that date back to the early 1960’s through
the present. Now maintained by the younger Monserrat, the
anthology is dubbed the ‘BigLen Library.’ In these days, it is
employed by Len & company as an automotive historical reference and
fact-finder for just about any vehicle produced in the last 40-50
years.
For Len, what has proven
to be a lasting journey in car-mania, begins as a child. Len
quickly grows from toy Hot Wheels, to remote-control cars, then
go-karts, and eventually into the realm of passenger road cars at
the age of 14. He instantly begins his calling towards auto
customization and performance, accruing countless hours of
experimentation and practice with proven stages of automotive
upgrades.
Before long, research and road testing of his own multiple stages of
engine enhancements and race preparation, lead to successful
racetrack trials and peer recognition in the form of customers and
constant car-advice inquiries from auto enthusiasts, friends and
family. Years of developing street performance cars and major
project vehicles for customers soon earn clear distinction among
South Florida car buffs.
To further increase his technical skills, Monserrat earns his
engineering degree from Florida International University in 1996.
The following year, at the age of 23, his work is acknowledged
internationally within the pages of Sport Compact Car Magazine
(Jul. ’97). Following competition at several regional events, Len
scores top-five finishes at select national events in 1998, as an
amateur! The eventual turn to the professional motorsports realm
emerges.
THE
BIGLEN COMPANY
In early 1998, Len Monserrat founded BigLen Engineering,
with an idea and a dream that were to
become a national
racing and motorsports operation. BigLen
Engineering quickly doubled as an automotive-market research &
development company, catering to a spectrum of clientele, spanning
from local to International corporations, mostly in the automotive
sector. The transfer of
technology from the race circuit to the road became an integral part
of the company's philosophy, as well as, one of the main benefits of
every BigLen client.
Campaigning within the top metropolitan areas of North America, on
the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) circuit – one of auto
racing’s national stages – eventually attracted the attention of
mainstream-industry companies. The BigLen program not only provided
its clients the
ability to engineer, develop, and test new automotive products, it
presented the distinctive opportunity to promote goods, services,
and corporate image through the unique and extreme marketing
solutions present in motorsports. Since 2000, 7 consecutive
top-ten season finishes and a highly coveted National Championship
maximized promotional potential
and guaranteed exposure for all of Team BigLen’s sponsors and
clients. For more

BigLen’s years of competition in the pro ranks of NHRA Championship
Drag Racing, amassed a databank of proprietary technical
information. Inevitably, this seemed to serve well for the birth of
a new, truly race-bred, product line. By early 2005, the writing
was on the wall and BigLen launched the BLE Products division, a
culmination of years of passion, engineering, and development of
track-tested performance products for street-performance and racing
applications. To this day, performance
enthusiasts and professional race teams worldwide purchase and use
BLE products in their engines. For more information, visit the BLE
products website at
